Strategies and Prioritization Frameworks

We sought a sharp, data-driven approach to prioritise solutions, tackling customer pain points with maximum efficiency. Our framework cuts through confirmation bias, enabling objective, impactful decisions. It’s as vital as our team’s candid discussions about priorities, ensuring we stay laser-focused on what matters most.

MoSCoW Framework
It’s a widely adopted prioritization method I use to determine feature deliverables. It categorizes features into four priority levels: Must Have, Should Have, Could Have, and Won’t Have. I begin by gathering stakeholders: developers, designers, business leads, and, when possible, users, to align on user needs and development constraints for each sprint. Through collaborative discussions, we assign features to the appropriate priority level. Must-have features, critical for core functionality or business value, are prioritized for the upcoming sprint. Should-have features, while important, are not essential and can be deferred to future sprints if necessary.

Value Versus Complexity Quadrant
Our framework dynamically prioritizes features by weighing their potential value against the effort needed, ensuring we chase the most significant wins. It visualizes value versus effort for stakeholders in my action plan, sparking focused, productive discussions with product and tech teams to zero in on tasks that deliver maximum impact.

Aligning Vision and Execution

My definition of a roadmap is simple: a roadmap is a vibrant, visual blueprint that instantly conveys a plan or strategy, keeping everyone aligned and inspired. A tip: in my experience, centralize it in one place to avoid version chaos and update it daily. This keeps stakeholders and leadership aligned, ensuring your roadmap remains a trusted, living guide for all. I lean on Jira or Miro, depending on the team I’m collaborating with:

Pocket Trader Roadmap

Product & UX team
For product and UX teams, Miro is a game-changer. Its visual canvas sparks creativity, letting us brainstorm, map user journeys, and prioritize features with ease. Product teams leverage frameworks like RICE or MoSCoW to set strategic goals, while UX brings user research, empathy maps, and wireframes to ensure a user-centric roadmap. Miro’s real-time collaboration bridges time zones, and its Jira integration keeps our plans in sync with engineering.

Engineering team
Working closely with engineering, I find Jira’s roadmap creation unbeatable due to its seamless integration with our agile workflows, such as Scrum. It’s a dynamic hub where the team can update tasks, add estimates, and flag issues in real time, keeping the roadmap fresh with sprint and epic data—no chasing required. The engineers’ technical expertise shines as they break down features into actionable tasks, and Jira’s dependency tracking helps us identify and resolve blockers early.

Feature Planning: Driving Business Impact

My daily routine involves strategically organizing upcoming features for seamless implementation. Using Jira, a powerful tool, I boost team collaboration and communication. I begin by crafting an epic that clearly defines objectives, scope, and key stakeholders. Then, I map out a clear timeline, empowering the team to align on deadlines with confidence.

Then, I break down features and requirements into detailed user stories, creating a crystal-clear roadmap to guide the development journey.

Express Trade

Recent market volatility has traders craving lightning-fast trade execution to seize fleeting opportunities, a need echoed loudly in our user surveys.

Pain Points: Traders, especially on mobile, are frustrated by clunky app navigation and limited screen space, slowing them down in fast-moving markets.

Tasks: Our mission is to empower mobile users with seamless trade initiation from any app page, overcoming these barriers.

Solution: After rigorous design, prototyping, and testing, we rolled out a game-changing persistent widget across all app pages. One tap launches the trade interface, pre-filled with smart defaults (like volume, instrument pair, take-profit/stop-loss) based on the user’s last trade or averages, streamlining execution with unmatched speed.

Streamlining Payments

Traders are clamouring for payment flexibility, a key pain point we’ve pinpointed, as they demand diverse payment methods to supercharge their trading experience.

Pain Points: Customers crave seamless access to varied payment options to elevate their trading journey.

Tasks: Our goal is to team up with a payment aggregator to integrate multiple payment service providers (PSPs) across target countries, ensuring lightning-fast, seamless system integration while meeting business and compliance needs for a swift rollout.

Solution: By forging a strategic alliance with a top-tier payment aggregator, we’ve unlocked access to a global network of PSPs, slashing integration time by months. This allows us to deploy each PSP in days, managed effortlessly through a sleek, innovative admin dashboard. Once compliance and business requirements are locked in, we can roll out the full solution at warp speed.
